Friendly: Portugalete 1-3 Athletic Club

Today’s friendly was held to raise funds for this years celebration of Ibilaldia, the fiesta of Bizkaian ikastolas (Basque schools) in Portugalete.

Two goals from Llorente and one from Ibai put us ahead in this Tuesday afternoon friendly. The match gave some players who have not been playing much a chance to spread their legs and also brought in some of our Bilbao Athletic and Basconia cachorros. We hope to see some of them play with the first team next season!

Aupa Athletic!

Full-time: Athletic Feminino (1) - FC Barcelona (2)
Today in front of a sold out San Mamés, las Leonas played a game that none of them should be ashamed of.  They needed to at least tie to win the league, and Ibarra’s goal just before halftime was a great sigh of relief as Barsa scored very early on in the game.  But Barsa scored again with little time left and it was just not meant to be.
I think I can speak for Mod no. 1 as well when I say that we are very proud of las Leonas and all that they’ve accomplished this season (23 wins and 84 goals is no joke!).  Second place is not a bad place to be.
Congratulations to the FC Barcelona Ladies and Aupa neskak, now we look forward to la Copa de la Reina.

Full-time: Celta (1) - Athletic (1)
It’s hard to not feel a bit disappointed with this result.  Three points would have been nice, considering we played well after the goal and there were many chances to go ahead, but one point isn’t a terrible result.
Up next the boys have a friendly against Portugalete on the 7th of May to look forward to.  After that on the 11th, it’s back to the league to receive Mallorca in San Mames.
